
The Asia Pacific Arts Awards, being held for a second time, recognise artists, arts companies and collectives that “uniquely demonstrate artistic excellence, innovation and the power of arts and culture to connect communities”. It’s part of the Asia TOPA festival.

In contention was Belvoir Street Theatre, Blacktown Arts, Casula Powerhouse, Pari, and Arab Theatre Studio, as well as Arts House in Melbourne and Campbelltown Arts Centre in Sydney, where Dagostino had been director until last year.
This masthead understands there had been talk of boycotts and protests, but the decision was unrelated to funding.
Creative Australia said recipients would be honoured at a later date.
“We assure you that we remain committed to recognising the achievements of the Asia Pacific arts community, and we look forward to celebrating the shortlisted nominees at a later date,” the agency said.
