BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Navy’s Wyatt Shaw and Zoie Tesi were named the Patriot League Men’s and Women’s Track & Field Rookie of the Week, respectively, for their performance last Saturday at the Virginia Opener.
Shaw earned his first conference weekly award this season, as he placed in the top three in two events. He took second in the long jump with a season-best mark of 7.38m (24′ 2.5″), while finishing third in the high jump with a height of 1.98m (6′ 6″).
Tesi was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week for the third time this year (Jan. 21 / Feb. 4). The Gloversville, N.Y., native posted a season-best height of 1.73m (5′ 8″) to win the women’s high jump for the second-straight meet. She also finished third in the triple jump with a distance of 11.61m (38′ 1.25″).
Navy returns home this Saturday when it plays host to the Navy Outdoor Invitational at Ingram Field.
