Jimmy Carter, the U.S.’s 39th president passed peacefully in his home in Plains, Georgia at the age of 100 on December 29, 2024. He served one term from 1977 to 1981.
Following the presidency he didn’t stop to work in solving conflicts, promoting peace and health diplomacy with his nonprofit organization The Carter Center, that already received Nobel Peace Prize in 2002. He will always stay in our heart and inspire many for a more peaceful world.
We stand with the United States and others around the world in extending our deepest condolences to the Carter family.
In his honor, the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) announces the trading closure of all NYSE Group equity and options market on Thursday, January 9, 2025. The NYSE will raise the U.S. flag at half throughout the mourning period in the National Day of Mourning for former President Jimmy Carter.
