Surreal narco-musical “Emilia Perez,” about a Mexican drug lord who undergoes surgery to live life as a woman, won the Golden Globe for best comedy or musical film as Hollywood’s awards season began in earnest.
Jacques Audiard’s genre-defying work won four trophies overall. For best comedy/musical, one of the top prizes on the night, it beat “Anora,” “Challengers,” “A Real Pain,” “The Substance,” and “Wicked.”
