Aubrey Plaza fans: ‘Let us carry you’
Entertainers and fans have turned the comments section of Plaza’s most recent Instagram post into a tribute wall.
“No words can touch this painful time. Only love and strength and support from everyone. I am so sorry,” actress Selma Blair wrote on Plaza’s Instagram page.
“Sending you so much love,” actor and model Julia Fox wrote.
“Aubrey we love You so much and it’s absolutely devastating to hear the news about Your beloved,” a fan wrote. “We truly wish You lots of protection in this time. Take all the space You need to process this. Don’t succumb to… pressure to return to work any sooner than feels right.”
Another fan whose “heart breaks” for Plaza mentioned the impact the “Parks and Recreation” star had on her.
“Your humour has carried me through some dark times so I hope your Instagram community can be there for you at this sad time.”
Who is Aubrey Plaza’s husband Jeff Baena?
Baena was a writer and director known for projects like “Life After Beth” and “The Little Hours,” both of which starred Plaza.
He and Plaza had been dating since 2010 and married in 2020.
While many people are familiar with Plaza and her signature deadpan style of humor, her husband often went under the radar and was more low-key than the Ursuline Academy alum.
This is mirrored in Baena’s IG account, for example, which has 626 followers, compared to Plaza, who has over 5 million fans.
Aubrey Plaza shocked fans with marriage in 2021
Plaza surprised fans when she called Baena “my husband” for the first time publicly in an Instagram post on May 7, 2021.
“So proud of my darling husband @jeffbaena for dreaming up another film that takes us to italia to cause some more trouble.”
The nearly four year-old post has since become a tribute to Baena.
“You guys were the most beautiful couple,” a fan wrote.
“I’m so sorry for your loss[.] I hope you find your way out of the deep hole you probably feel like your in but loss is hard especially when you lose someone this special too you, I wish you the best. Rip Jeff Fly High.”

Plaza was originally set to present at the Golden Globe Awards on Sunday, but the actress didn’t attend after her husband’s death.
In his Best Director acceptance speech during Sunday’s Golden Globe Awards, “The Brutalist” filmmaker Brady Corbet sent his support to Plaza.
“Tonight, my heart is with Aubrey Plaza and Jeff’s family,” Corbet said as he concluded his remarks.
