LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Bellarmine University track and field essentially secured three top finishes at Friday’s Bellarmine Open at the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center.
Senior Nolan Hester claimed the top spot in the men’s 800 (1:54.49), as did redshirt freshman Will Bracher in the shot put (15.59). Junior Jansen Story placed second overall but ostensibly took top honors as she was first among college attached competitors in the women’s 800 (2:20.95).
Sophomore Amelia Svidal was the runner-up in the women’s long jump (5.39), and sophomore Annie Somwe was ninth in the event (4.89). Freshman Shaianne Overall was sixth in the 1000 (3:12.68), as was senior Trisha Sexton in the 3000 (10:22.94) and sophomore Raven Payne in the 60 (8.02).
Payne also placed eighth in the 200 (25.69), as did sophomore Haden Wolfe in the weight throw (13.34). In addition, Wolfe took ninth in the shot put (10.62).
Sophomore Clinton Bass finished fourth in the men’s 60 hurdles (8.34), as did junior Zac Hutslar in the 400 (49.61) and senior Josh Meiman in the 800 (1:57.51). Sophomore Chase Austin provided the Knights three top 7s in the 800 (seventh, 1:59.19).
Freshman Grant King immediately followed Hutslar in the 400 in fifth (49.86), and King was 10th in the long jump (6.56). Bracher garnered a ninth in the weight throw (14.64) and senior D.K. Schnieders a 10th in the mile (4:19.42).
The Knights will host the PNC Bank Bellarmine Classic on Friday at Norton SLC.
