Jaushua Sotirio has gone back Down Under to the former five-time A-League champions.
Former Indian Super League (ISL) club Kerala Blasters FC attacker Jaushua Sotirio has signed with A-League club Sydney FC on Friday. The player who was a free agent after mutually parting ways with the Tuskers in early January, will be looking to revive his injury-ridden career.
The Sydney native joins his hometown club as they currently sit in the fifth spot in the A-League standings. Following a long spell on the sidelines after signing with the Tuskers in 2023, Sotirio is upbeat with a move to more familiar surroundings.
Sotirio departs Kerala Blasters FC after a rough spell
After his arrival during the 2023-2024 season, a lot was expected by the passionate Kerala Blasters FC fans from the Australian attacker. However, the 30-year-old never was able to don the Kerala jersey during his time with the club.
Ankle injuries and constant fitness problems plagued him during his time in the top division of Indian football. The ordeal also took a lot of toll on Sotirioâs confidence and a move back to Sydney FC is coming at the perfect time for both parties.

Jaushua Sotirio is excited to play at home
After the announcement of his arrival on Friday, the attacker has expressed a lot of optimism and privilege to be a part of his new club. While describing Sydney as one of the biggest clubs in the A-League, Sotirio shared he has successfully completed a few training sessions.
While talking about his time with the Blasters, Sotirio stated, âIâve had a tough 18-month period in India but I am back now fully fit and I am looking forward to being back in Sydney with my family.â
A fresh new start for both parties
Injuries are always tough for both the players and the club. With Sotirio now set to make his return with Sydney FC this season, the Blastersâ fans will be wishing him all the best at his new club.
With the Blasters only four points out of the coveted top-six playoff spots, the club will be looking to recruit some fresh talent in the attacking department. With Sotirioâs departure, opportunity knocks for the Blasters to bring in fresh faces as they look for that extra push before the end of the season.
